Baseball Recap: Lumberton Snags Ninth Win in Last Ten Games

It's playoff time, and Lumberton had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the Livingston Lions 10-3 on Friday. Considering the Raiders have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Hudson Emerson made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off ten hits (and only one walk). Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Emerson wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Pullen, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Lumberton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Lumberton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-8-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Livingston, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-18-2.

Coming up, Lumberton will challenge Lampasas on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Raiders 3.1, the Badgers 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Livingston does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
