On Monday, everything went Chittenango's way against Herkimer as Chittenango made off with a 3-0 victory.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Chittenango was: they took every set by at least 18 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-6, 25-7, 25-5.
Meanwhile, Rome Free Academy made easy work of Westmoreland on Monday and carried off a 3-0 win.
Rome Free Academy's got stronger as the match went on, holding Westmoreland to fewer and fewer points set over set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-19, 25-9.
Rome Free Academy's win came from a few key players Chittenango will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Elijah Pomales, who had six digs and three aces. Sean Ginter was another key player, getting 14 digs and five aces.
Rome Free Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in five consecutive matches.
Rome Free Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 3-5 record this season. As for Chittenango, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
