Baseball Recap: Evangelical Christian Wins Going Away Against Gulf Coast H

With a playoff win on the line, Evangelical Christian rose to the challenge on Monday. They blew past the Gulf Coast H HEAT 11-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Sentinels also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2015.

Anthony Cabrera made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Cabrera was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other pitching news, Boston Gibbs looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Evangelical Christian: the team is 4-2 when he allows at most three hits, but 8-12 otherwise.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Ryder Lutz, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Evangelical Christian's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 9-14 when he doesn't). Gavin Teeter was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Evangelical Christian hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Evangelical Christian's win bumped their record up to 12-14. As for Gulf Coast H, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.
