Softball Recap: Mena's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak at Home

Mena has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.13 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They came up short against Booneville, falling 16-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Mena has suffered since March 6th.

Abi Koppein was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Emmi Hensley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Emma Owen, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Mena's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-4. As for Booneville, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
