Basketball Recap: Thousand Oaks Takes a Loss

On Saturday, the Thousand Oaks Lancers might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Crespi Celts an easy 64-43 win. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 394th, while the Celts are ranked 46th).

Crespi's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Preston Cole, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton White, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 15 points.

Thousand Oaks' loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Crespi, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-4.

Thousand Oaks will venture away from home to square off against Canyon Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Crespi, they will be taking part in a tournament against Liberty at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. Liberty knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine contests -- so hopefully Crespi likes a good challenge.
