Baseball Recap: Eau Gallie Snags Ninth Victory in Last 11 Games

It's playoff time, and Eau Gallie had no trouble coming through when it counted. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Rockledge Raiders 3-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-0 two weeks ago.

Carson Lietz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alex Jacobs, who went 2-for-4 with one home run.

Eau Gallie has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Rockledge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-12 record this season.

Eau Gallie will challenge Merritt Island at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Commodores surely won't give up without a fight. Rockledge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
