Softball Recap: Seven Straight Road Victories for North Lenoir

With a playoff win on the line, North Lenoir rose to the challenge on Friday. They skirted past the Martin County Gators 4-2. The victory was nothing new for the Hawks as they're now sitting on four straight.

Maddie Rouse spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits.

At the plate, North Lenoir saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyssa Hatcher, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Another was Lakyn Whitley, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

North Lenoir pushed their record up to 18-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Martin County, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-5.

North Lenoir has already played their next contest, a 9-1 win against South Granville on the 20th. Martin County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
