Basketball Game Preview: Strongsville Mustangs vs. Brunswick Blue Devils

The Strongsville Mustangs will head out to take on the Brunswick Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Strongsville is headed into Friday's match hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. They had to suffer through a 77-47 loss at the hands of Cleveland Heights. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Mustangs came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Tigers are ranked 71st).

Meanwhile, Brunswick came tearing into Tuesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Panthers as they made off with an 83-60 victory. The Blue Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Brunswick pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.3 points per game. As for Strongsville, their loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-2.

Everything came up roses for Strongsville against Brunswick in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 72-39 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Strongsville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
