Basketball Game Preview: Trinity Christian Gryphons vs. Fredericksburg Christian Eagles

The Trinity Christian Gryphons will challenge the Fredericksburg Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Trinity Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Loudoun County HomeSchool, taking the game 37-29. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Gryphons.

While Fredericksburg Christian didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Stafford by a score of 57-47 back in December of 2024.

Fredericksburg Christian's win came from a few key players Trinity Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Riley Thomas, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 15 points in addition to seven assists and seven steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 19 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Layna Thomas, who went 5 of 9 en route to 13 points along with five assists and five steals.

Fredericksburg Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stafford only racked up five assists.

Fredericksburg Christian is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for Trinity Christian, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-3.

Trinity Christian beat Fredericksburg Christian 38-27 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Will Trinity Christian repeat their success, or does Fredericksburg Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
