Softball Game Preview: Portland Panthers vs. Macon County Tigers

The Portland Panthers will square off against the Macon County Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Portland made easy work of East Robertson and carried off an 8-1 win. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Macon County posted their closest win since April 23, 2024 on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past White House 3-2.

Portland's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-10. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Macon County, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

Portland suffered a grim 16-10 defeat to Macon County in their previous matchup back in March of 2022. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
