Football Recap: Silver Creek Falls Despite Big Games from Alijah Guzman and Jordan Thompson

After flying high against Del Mar last Friday, Silver Creek came back down to earth. The Raiders fell 22-17 to the Overfelt Royals on Friday. The Raiders were not able to make up for their defeat to the Royals from their previous meeting back in November of 2024.

Jordan Thompson and Alijah Guzman certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Thompson rushed for 108 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries, while Guzman rushed for 55 yards and one score. Thompson is becoming a predictor of Silver Creek's success: when he posts at least 100 rushing yards the team is 2-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't).

Silver Creek's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Overfelt, the win also got them back to even at 4-4.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Silver Creek is set to challenge their familiar foe Oak Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Overfelt will square off against rival Pioneer at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
