Baseball Recap: New Lothrop Wins Going Away Against Byron

New Lothrop never got on the board in their matchup on Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Byron on Monday. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 14-2 win. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

New Lothrop let Michael Schlachter and Diam Edwards run wild. Schlachter went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Edwards went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. Edwards is becoming a predictor of New Lothrop's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 5-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Nathan Kuchar, who earned one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

The win got New Lothrop back to even at 8-8. As for Byron, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: New Lothrop beat the Eagles by a score of 9-5 later that day.
