Football Game Preview: Coronado Cougars vs. Durango Trailblazers

The Coronado Cougars will face off against the Durango Trailblazers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Coronado's defense has only allowed 11.3 points per game this season, so Durango's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Coronado is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Centennial, who was ranked 20th at the time (Coronado was ranked 15th). Coronado sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 24-21 win over Centennial on Monday. The victory was familiar territory for the Cougars who have now won three contests in a row.

Meanwhile, Durango was beaten by Mojave 33-6 back in December of 2024.

Coronado pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.3 points per game. As for Durango, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Everything came up roses for Coronado against Durango in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 46-6 victory. Will Coronado repeat their success, or does Durango have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
