Soccer Game Preview: Mt. Pleasant vs. Whitehouse

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Mt. Pleasant challenge Whitehouse at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Whitehouse took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Mt. Pleasant, who comes in off a win.

Mt. Pleasant barely beat Lufkin the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Mt. Pleasant's defense stepped up to hand Lufkin a 3-0 shutout on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won seven in a row.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Whitehouse's offense. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Texas on Tuesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Wildcats came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 158th, while the Tigers are ranked 358th).

Mt. Pleasant's victory bumped their record up to 12-4-2. As for Whitehouse, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-4-4.

Mt. Pleasant suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Whitehouse when the teams last played back in February. Can Mt. Pleasant avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
