Basketball Recap: Villa Angela-St. Joseph Beats John F. Kennedy for Their Second Straight Victory

If John F. Kennedy wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Villa Angela-St. Joseph, they should've done a better job of containing Elizabeth Dunmire. The Villa Angela-St. Joseph Vikings really took it to the John F. Kennedy Fighting Eagles for the full four quarters, racking up a 69-41 win thanks in part to Dunmire, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Villa Angela-St. Joseph's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Dunmire, who posted eight points in addition to six assists and five boards. That's the most assists she has posted since back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, John F. Kennedy still got an impressive performance from Precious Williams, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Williams also grabbed five steals, which is notable because John F. Kennedy is 6-2 when she posts at least three steals, but 2-3 otherwise. Shatrice Wanzo-Lawrence was another key player, putting up four points and nine boards.

The victory made it two in a row for Villa Angela-St. Joseph and bumps their season record up to 11-8. As for John F. Kennedy, their record now sits at 8-5.

Villa Angela-St. Joseph will be playing in front of their home fans against Cornerstone Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Villa Angela-St. Joseph is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.8 points per game this season. John F. Kennedy has already played their next contest, a 0-0 win against Collinwood on the 24th.
