McHenry hasn't had much luck against Huntley recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Warriors will host the Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times McHenry and Hampshire had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Warriors fell 14-11 to the Whip-Purs on Monday.
Hailey Townsend was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Kendal Rogers was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Huntley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Central on Monday. The Red Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Piper Heimbrodt and Lyla Ginczycki did most of the damage at the plate: Heimbrodt went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double, while Ginczycki went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most hits Ginczycki has posted over her last 12 contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrina Adamik, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Huntley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central only posted an OBP of .167.
Huntley pushed their record up to 23-6 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for McHenry, their loss dropped their record down to 12-12.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. McHenry hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Huntley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.9 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
