Preview: Hereford Whitefaces vs. Borger Bulldogs
Hereford is 9-1 against Borger since December of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Hereford Whitefaces will head out on the road to face off against the Borger Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Hereford has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 77-72 hit to the loss column at the hands of Randall. While losing is never fun, Hereford can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while Randall is ranked 21st).
Meanwhile, Borger's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 15th straight loss. They were dealt a 118-55 defeat at the hands of Randall. Borger was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 57-29.
The losing side was boosted by Tahqulin Brooks, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 19 rebounds. That was a full 40% of Borger's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Hereford's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-5. As for Borger, their defeat was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-18.
Hereford strolled past Borger when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a score of 56-40. Does Hereford have another victory up their sleeve, or will Borger turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
