Basketball Recap: St. Lawrence Central Comes Up Short

St. Lawrence Central has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost 75-52 to the Saranac Lake Red Storm on Tuesday. The Larries lost against the Red Storm in their previous head to head back in December of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 47-45 score last time.

Despite the loss, St. Lawrence Central still got an impressive performance from Ayden Beach, who posted 17 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Beach is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 21 games he's played dating back to last season. Jeremiah Labrake was another key player, going 7 of 10 en route to 16 points.

St. Lawrence Central's loss dropped their record down to 13-3. As for Saranac Lake, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.

St. Lawrence Central and Saranac Lake should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. St. Lawrence Central (ranked 426th) will meet St. Regis Falls (ranked 862nd) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Lawrence Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.4 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Saranac Lake will take on Peru at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday up 467 places (319 vs. 786).
