Football Recap: Fort Wayne South Side Comes Up Short Despite JT Timberlake's Big Defensive Game

Fort Wayne South Side had lost four straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-6 to make it five. They lost to the Fort Wayne North Side Legends at home by a 28-13 margin. The Archers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Legends from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Fort Wayne South Side lost, don't look at Devin Patterson. Despite the final result, he rushed for 45 yards and one score, and also threw for 60 yards and one touchdown while completing 85.7% of his passes.

Fort Wayne South Side didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut JT Timberlake.

As for Fort Wayne North Side, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 20 points in those games.

Caleb Kiengele had a dynamite game, rushing for 151 yards and a pair of TDs. What's more, he posted two rushing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in August of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaydin Rivers, who threw for 202 yards and one touchdown.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fort Wayne South Side will take on Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fort Wayne North Side, they will square off against Homestead at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
