Volleyball Recap: New Philadelphia Quakers vs. Tuscarawas Valley Trojans
New Philadelphia kicked off their season on the road on Saturday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tuscarawas Valley Trojans. The Quakers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.
While New Philadelphia had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 21 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-23, 25-27, 25-21.
Eberle Baker paced New Philadelphia's offense, picking up ten kills. Baker got some help from Marisa Loader and her 13 assists. Aubrie Watson controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.
Leah Howard was a one-woman wrecking crew For Tuscarawas Valley. as she had 19 digs and four aces. Those four aces gave Howard a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Addi Witham, who had ten digs.
New Philadelphia has already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Ashland on the 21st. As for Tuscarawas Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against Conotton Valley on the 20th.
