Baseball Recap: La Canada's Win Ends 15-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask La Canada). They put the hurt on the Arroyo Knights with a sharp 12-1 victory on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Spartans considering their two-run performance the game before.

Fritz Phillips looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Will Park was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Finn Flowerhogan, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

La Canada was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

La Canada's win ended a 15-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-6. As for Arroyo, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. La Canada will take on South Pasadena at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. This will be South Pasadena's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. Arroyo will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Glendale at 3:15 p.m. on March 18th.
