Football Recap: San Juan Wins Going Away Against Summit Academy

San Juan won the last time they faced Summit Academy and things went their way on Friday too. The Broncos put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 50-29 victory. The match marked the Broncos' most dominant win of the season so far.

San Juan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jagger Nieves led the charge by rushing for 169 yards and two TDs while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Nieves didn't just play on offense: he also made five total tackles and defended one pass. Another back making a difference was Jayce Raisor, who rushed for 145 yards and one score on only 11 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: San Juan was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 370 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 160 rushing yards in seven consecutive contests dating back to last season.

San Juan's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut George McNaughtan. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last six games he's played dating back to last season.

San Juan's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Summit Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

San Juan has already played their next game, a 69-21 win against South Summit on the 12th. As for Summit Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 42-14 victory against Delta on the 12th.
