Baseball Recap: Lenox Memorial Comes Up Short

Lenox Memorial dropped their record down to 9-5 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Drury Blue Devils, falling 12-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-0 back in April.

Robbie Bazinet was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

As for Drury, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by seven runs or more this season.

On Drury's side, Lucas Rylander made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Rylander has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Colby Malloy was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Another player making a difference was Julian Faliciano, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lenox Memorial will venture away from home to square off against Lee at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Millionaires are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Drury, they will head out to face off against Mount Everett Regional at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
