Top 15 most dominant Georgia high school football programs since 2006

There's Buford - and then there's everybody else in Georgia high school football.

That's the result when the results are tallied since MaxPreps became America's source for high school sports.

The Wolves have reached a state title game in a mind-blowing 10 of 11 seasons since 2006 and they've won seven of those contests. That's far and away the top program in the state.



But then someone can look at Camden County and see the same exact state title game resume: seven wins, three losses, one year of not making it to the big game. What separates the two? Buford attained much higher finishes in the computer rankings each year.

The top 15 most dominant teams cover a good portion of the map in Georgia, from Valdosta and Kingsland in the far south to Calhoun up near Tennessee. And they cover a range of enrollment classes, with Buford playing in smaller classifications like 2A and 3A in the early years. Calhoun also experienced its best years at 2A and 3A.

Here is how the points break down:

1. 20 for a state title

2. 10 for a state championship game appearance

3. Other points are based on where a team finished in the final MaxPreps Georgia Football Computer Rankings presented by the Army National Guard. For example, if a team finished No. 1 overall, it would receive 25 points. If it finished 25th overall, the team would get one point. No points are awarded if the team did not finish in the Top 25.
