Hannah Nicola leads a balanced attack to beat Hilliard Davidson

The Washington Tigers had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 35-34 win over Hilliard Davidson.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Washington to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hannah Nicola, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and five steals. Nicola has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Makiya Edwards was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Despite the loss, Hilliard Davidson saw an underclassman step up: Anna Wile scored ten points. The matchup was Wile's third in a row with at least ten points.

Washington has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Hilliard Davidson, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Washington will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Cardinal Mooney at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Cardinal Mooney will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 522nd, while Washington is ranked 162nd). Hilliard Davidson won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Boardman at 11:00 a.m. on December 29, 2023.
