Basketball Recap: Lawrenceville Indians vs. Richland County Tigers
Even though the Lawrenceville Indians have not done well against the Richland County Tigers recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Lawrenceville walked away with a 59-49 win over the Tigers. Winning may never get old, but Lawrenceville sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Lawrenceville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bryant Jenkins led the charge by scoring 25 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Landon Sanders, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds.
Lawrenceville is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season. As for Richland County, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 21-3.
Lawrenceville won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Indians at 1:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Hopefully Altamont focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday. As for Richland County, they will be playing at home against the Indians at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
