Baseball Recap: Maurepas Takes a Loss

Maurepas fell victim to Pine and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (10-0), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. They haven't had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Maurepas saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gibson Hopp, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double marked the first that Hopp hit this season.

Maurepas' defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Pine, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-6 record this season.

Maurepas will challenge Franklinton at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Pine, they will be playing at home against French Settlement at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. French Settlement has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.64 runs per game on average), something Pine will no doubt try to take advantage of.
