Volleyball Recap: Sparkman Senators vs. Guntersville Wildcats

Sparkman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell just short of the Guntersville Wildcats by a score of 2-1. The Senators were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2020.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Sparkman sadly wound up on the wrong side. After all that action, the final score was 25-15, 23-25, 15-9.

Guntersville can attribute much of their success to Caroline Canady, who had 11 digs and four aces. That's the most aces Canady has posted since last Saturday.

Sparkman's loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Guntersville, they pushed their record up to 28-6 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Sparkman will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Florence at 5:30 p.m. on October 1st. The last three games Sparkman has played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Guntersville, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory vs. Hartselle on the 17th.
