Softball Recap: Newman Comes Up Short

Newman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 19-3 to the Auburndale Apaches. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Fighting Cardinals of the 12-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Newman saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Claire Bodenheimer, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Maddy Keene was another, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Newman's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Auburndale, their win was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newman will take on Phillips at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Auburndale, they will venture away from home to face off against Chequamegon at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
