Baseball Recap: Durham Wins Going Away Against Maxwell

Durham won against Los Molinos on Thursday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Trojans put the hurt on the Maxwell Panthers with a sharp 14-3 victory. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.

JASON RITZERT tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, BREVAN RING was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. ELY MARTINEZ was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Durham always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Durham and bumps their season record up to 17-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Maxwell, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Durham will venture away from home to take on Hamilton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Maxwell, they will head out to challenge Williams at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.57 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
