Basketball Recap: Union Hill Takes a Loss

Union Hill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 40-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Avery Bulldogs. If Union Hill was looking for revenge after losing 46-37 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, Union Hill saw an underclassman step up: sophomore EJ Mowery went 6 of 15 en route to 21 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That was a full 65.6% of Union Hill's points, marking the tenth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Payton Dunn, who scored eight points.

Union Hill's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Avery, they pushed their record up to 15-12 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Union Hill will take on Bloomburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Avery has already played their next game (against Avinger), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
