Recap: Laughlin Cougars vs. GV Christian Guardians
The Laughlin Cougars scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 53-43 win over GV Christian. The win was a breath of fresh air for Laughlin as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Laughlin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Valeria Quintero, who scored 13 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Quintero has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Daishanae Jackson, who scored 12 points along with seven steals and six rebounds.
Ceaulei Lamb and Alyssa Bound certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Lamb scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, while Bound dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Lamb is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight.
Laughlin's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for GV Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Laughlin will square off against Awaken Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Awaken Christian is ranked 69th, while Laughlin is ranked 85th). GV Christian will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Lake Mead Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th. Lake Mead Academy is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
