Baseball Recap: Lee County Comes Up Short

Lee County extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 3-8. They lost 10-0 to the Powell County Pirates. The Bobcats were not able to make up for their defeat to the Pirates from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

As for Powell County, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-9. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 17, 2025 (when they won 15-5).

For Powell County's part, Dylan Trent made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave Trent a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Drew Miller was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Bryson Edwards was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Looking ahead, Lee County will be playing at home against Leslie County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Powell County, they will head out on the road to challenge Mason County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Royals have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
