Basketball Recap: Caleb Wright's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sheridan over Carroll

If Sheridan was feeling good fresh off their 80-42 takedown of Herron last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sheridan Blackhawks took a 67-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Carroll Cougars on Friday. The Blackhawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Sheridan lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Caleb Wright, who went 8-for-19 on his way to 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Devon Hamilton, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 13 points and four steals.

Sheridan's loss dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Carroll, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which lines up perfectly with their 14-4 record this season.

Coming up, Sheridan will head out on the road to square off against Western Boone at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Carroll, they will be playing at home against Taylor at 7:30 p.m. on February 21st.
