Greeneview hasn't had much luck against Miami Trace recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Rams will face off against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. The last three games Greeneview has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Saturday, Greeneview didn't have quite enough to beat Perry and fell 11-10. That's two games in a row now that the Rams have lost by just one run.
Greeneview saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Max Penrod, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Andy Burkett also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Miami Trace waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Hurricane 20-1. Considering the Panthers have won five games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Cody McMillan looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.
At the plate, Gage Bowers was incredible, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jameson Hyer, who went 1-for-2 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Miami Trace always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wilmington only posted an OBP of .316.
Miami Trace's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Greeneview, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Greeneview hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .353. However, it's not like Miami Trace struggles in that department as they've averaged .340. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Greeneview couldn't quite get it done against Miami Trace in their previous matchup back in March of 2018 as they fell 5-1. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
