Softball Game Preview: Ferndale Golden Eagles vs. Squalicum Storm

The Ferndale Golden Eagles will square off against the Squalicum Storm at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ferndale will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Ferndale made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Blaine, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Ferndale put the hurt on Blaine with a sharp 15-5 victory on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Charlotte Simon spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Kaelin Blakley was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and six RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Sianna Bob was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Ferndale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Squalicum was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 19th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Sehome, falling 21-3.

Addy Hauber made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run.

Ferndale's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Squalicum, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Ferndale took their victory against Squalicum in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 22-2. Does Ferndale have another victory up their sleeve, or will Squalicum turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
