Softball Recap: Wyoming Wolves vs. West Catholic Falcons
Wyoming extended their losing streak to seven on Monday, dropping their season record down to 5-16 in the process. They fell 4-0 to the West Catholic Falcons. The Wolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.
Wyoming saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was SaraBeth Vandenbosh, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base.
As for West Catholic, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games.
On West Catholic's side, not much got past Jordan Empie, who gave up just three hits and racked up 17 Ks to keep Wyoming off the board. Empie has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Anna Ignatoski was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cate Sanders, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: West Catholic beat Wyoming by a score of 9-1 later that day.
