Preview: Commerce Tigers vs. Rabun County Wildcats
Commerce is 0-5 against Rabun County since December of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Commerce Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rabun County Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Commerce focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
Last Friday, Commerce took a serious blow against Athens Christian, falling 81-45. Commerce has not had much luck with Athens Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Commerce saw an underclassman step up: Jayla Collins almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Collins scored 15 or more points. Jayah vann was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Rabun County put the finishing touches on their tenth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 81-43 win over Tallulah Falls. Given Rabun County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Tallulah Falls is ranked 222nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Commerce's loss dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Rabun County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.
Commerce took a serious blow against Rabun County in their previous meeting back in January, falling 81-46. Can Commerce avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
