Basketball Game Preview: Woodson Cowboys vs. Garner Longhorns

Woodson has gone 4-0 against Garner recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Woodson Cowboys will host the Garner Longhorns at 7:30 p.m. Woodson will be strutting in after a victory while Garner will be coming in after a loss.

Woodson took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They took down Newcastle 47-29.

Nicholas Romo was nothing short of spectacular: he went 8 of 11 en route to 19 points and six steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Munoz, who posted 14 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Garner played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Perrin-Whitt, falling 98-21. The game marked the Longhorns' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Woodson's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 13-9. As for Garner, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-9.

Everything came up roses for Woodson against Garner in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 62-18 victory. Will Woodson repeat their success, or does Garner have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
