Softball Recap: Shelby Extends Winning Streak to Five

Shelby put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against the Pleasant Spartans by a score of 6-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-2 on Tuesday.

Alyssa Booker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Shelby let Peyton Bruskotter and Karlie Walp run wild. Bruskotter scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4, while Walp scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Bruskotter is also crushing it when it comes to RBI: she's brought in at least three every time she's taken the field this season.

Shelby's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Pleasant, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shelby will challenge Danville at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Pleasant, they will face off against Cardington-Lincoln at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
