Soccer Game Preview: Herron vs. Cathedral

Herron is 0-3 against Cathedral since October of 2017 but things could change on Saturday. The Achaeans will challenge the Fighting Irish at 11:00 a.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Herron is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They put the hurt on Providence Cristo Rey with a sharp 10-1 victory on Thursday. It was an even better day for Maya Rice as she scored three goals for her team.

Meanwhile, Cathedral kept a clean sheet against Guerin Catholic on Monday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Golden Eagles. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Cathedral's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana soccer rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Guerin Catholic are ranked 82nd).

The victory made it two in a row for Herron and bumps their season record up to 7-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those two matchups. As for Cathedral, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2-2.

Herron suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Cathedral in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. Can the Achaeans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
