Baseball Recap: Niles West Find Success

While Niles West's win against Maine West wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wolves sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 victory over the Warriors on Thursday. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 12-2 victory on Tuesday.

Kheiron Jardinado tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Lucas Som was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Kevin Foley was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Niles West kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Niles West is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Maine West, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-10.
