Softball Recap: William Blount Find Success

After losing to Maryville the last time they met, William Blount decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The William Blount Governors skirted past the Maryville Red Rebels 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Governors have posted against the Red Rebels since May 5, 2021.

Katee Owens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, William Blount saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Merriman, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Bella Jones also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

William Blount's record is now 4-1. As for Maryville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

William Blount wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 3-2 victory against West on the 13th. As for Maryville, they have also already played their next contest, a 9-7 win against Hardin Valley Academy on the 13th.
