The Seton Catholic Cougars will venture away from home to face off against the Kalama Chinooks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Seton Catholic is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
Kalama's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Thursday: Seton Catholic hadn't allowed a single run the last four times they've hit the field. The Cougars' pitchers stepped up to hand La Center a 13-0 shutout on Wednesday. Considering the Cougars have won five games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jocelyn Kender made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Seton Catholic let Brooklynn Lubisich and Kylie McMaster run wild. Lubisich scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances, while McMaster scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base was McMaster's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Farrell, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Seton Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as La Center only posted an OBP of .350.
Meanwhile, Kalama fell victim to Seton Catholic and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 11-0 to the Cougars. The Chinooks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Seton Catholic pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Kalama, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-2.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Seton Catholic hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .432. However, it's not like Kalama struggles in that department as they've averaged .373. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Seton Catholic took their win against Kalama in their previous matchup on Tuesday by a conclusive 11-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
