Softball Recap: Cherokee Chiefs vs. Shawnee Renegades

While Cherokee's victory against Shawnee wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Chiefs won by a run and slipped past the Renegades 7-6. Winning may never get old, but the Chiefs sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Allison Cunane made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ava Merente was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Cali Taylor, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Cherokee's win bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Shawnee, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

Coming up, Cherokee is taking a road trip to challenge Moorestown at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Shawnee, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Seneca on Thursday.
