Baseball Recap: Petaluma Extends Winning Streak to Four

Petaluma proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by seven) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Acalanes Dons 3-1. The win was nothing new for the Trojans as they're now sitting on four straight.

Ben Vollmer looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, August Cuneo was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Petaluma's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Acalanes, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4-1.

Looking ahead, Petaluma will head out to square off against Vintage at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Acalanes, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against San Ramon Valley at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Dons 2.8, the Wolves 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
