Basketball Recap: Royal Live Oaks Academy Royal Knights vs. Bridges Prep Buccaneers
After soaring to 63 points the game before, the Royal Live Oaks Academy Royal Knights were a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 86-15 loss at the hands of Bridges Prep. While losing is never fun, Royal Live Oaks Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while the Buccaneers are ranked 117th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bridges Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than X Butler, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 13 rebounds. Butler also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Te'shaun Heyward, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 assists.
Royal Live Oaks Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7-1. As for Bridges Prep, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-4.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Whale Branch the next time they take the court. Royal Live Oaks Academy will host the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Buccaneers will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
