Baseball Game Preview: Coronado Dons vs. Camelback Spartans

The Coronado Dons will challenge the Camelback Spartans at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Coronado has now lost 12 straight dating back to last season, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 27.

Coronado's tournament run continued when they took on La Joya Community on Friday. The Dons came up short against the Fighting Lobos, falling 15-2.

Meanwhile, Camelback hadn't done well against North recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Spartans put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 11-2 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Spartans considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Nathan Morgan made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Morgan was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaime Reyna, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Camelback always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North only posted an OBP of .435.

Camelback's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Coronado, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Coronado might still be hurting after the 16-6 loss they got from Camelback in their previous matchup back in February of 2017. Can the Dons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
