Softball Game Preview: Trinity Christian Warriors vs. Grafton Bearcats

Trinity Christian is 0-4 against Grafton since March of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Warriors will venture away from home to face off against the Bearcats at 6:00 p.m. Trinity Christian has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Trinity Christian is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Wednesday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 16-15 heartbreaker at the hands of Fairmont Senior.

Josalyn Phillips led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Marlo Flecker, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Grafton hadn't done well against Lewis County recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Bearcats never let the Minutemen get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bearcats, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Chelsea Mauller was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

Grafton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lewis County struck out 13 times.

Trinity Christian now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Grafton, their record now sits at 12-6-1.

Trinity Christian might still be hurting after the 7-0 loss they got from Grafton when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
