Basketball Recap: Parrish Community Falls Despite Big Games from Jayna Bowen and Romana Lind

Parrish Community lost against North Port back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Parrish Community Bulls fell 50-40 to the North Port Bobcats. The Bulls have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Romana Lind and Jayna Bowen certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Lind dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds, while Bowen dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave Lind a new career-high in points.

Even though they lost, Parrish Community smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. This was only their 11th loss (out of 17 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.

North Port found their leader in sophomore Rhiley Richards, who went 7 for 16 en route to 23 points and eight boards. The matchup was Richards' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Yaritza Sheppard, who posted five points.

Parrish Community's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for North Port, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Parrish Community will host Southeast at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Parrish Community is facing Southeast at the right time seeing as Southeast is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. North Port has already played their next game (against Lakewood Ranch), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
